Jim Monroe ( The Adolescents, Joey Ramone, Manic Hispanic ), who produced their last EP (Same Ol' Story; available now) returns alongside Bad Religion guitarist Greg Hetson to help the band records their newest album, Comes The Day.
Comes the Day represents an evolution of the band, sonically and lyrically, but perhaps more importantly, the album shows no letdown in terms of intensity and/or rock energy. Perhaps most noticeable are the stylistic applications of dynamics, production values and vocal harmonies, which ironically have translated to the live performances as well.
Led by vocalist Mel Schantz, the quintet featured on Comes the Day were veterans Terrence Kiriokos on drums, George Hart on bass, David Costa on guitars, and Brandon Coy on guitars and vocals.
Having shared the stage with Bad Religion on their 30th anniversary tour, Youth Brigade, Death by Stereo, Strung Out, Pennywise, TSOL, Dead To Me, The Implants, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Agnostic Front, most local and regional bands as well as 2 stints on the Vans Warped Tour, Unit F has found a way to relate and blend with their contemporaries without totally losing their own unique identity.
Now, for 2014, Unit F sets the stage for the next phase of its musical evolution as the legacy continues with new members and new collaborations, all to be announced here shortly.
-"Greg Hetson describes his time in the studio with Unit F: "...Seriously, ...the world needs more bands like Unit F that combine good music with intelligent lyrical content.""
-Top 40 Charts.com-
-"...Hard-driving, old school punk... dripping with raw political insight."
-PT Rothschild, Full Value Review-
-"The album (American Shutdown) is awesome. I haven't heard that style of punk rock ever. Good stuff."
-"...By balancing grim themes with dark humour, the band shows a level of social awareness that extends beyond surface value. Needless to say, anyone who loves music that challenges them to think for themselves should pick up American Shutdown..."
